Nonito Donaire set to face Toshiaki Nishioka on October 13

It has been confirmed by Top Rank Promotions, that Featherweight champion Nonito Donaire(29-1) will face off against Japanese superstar Toshiaki Nishioka (39-4) on October 13, live from the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. HBO will broadcast the event.
Jorge Arce was originally named as the opponents for Donaire, but after failing to come up with an agreement in terms of money, Arce was pushed aside and Nishioka was brought in to take Arce's place on the October 13 card.
During Donaire's last fight this past July against Jeffrey Mathebula (26-4) which aslo took place at the Home Depot Center, Nishioka sat ringside as Donaire cruised to a unanimous decision victory over the determined but outclassed South African. Nishioka was clearly there to try and negotiate a fight with the winner. His wish has been granted.
Nishioka is a great fighter and coming of an impressive victory over Rafael Marquez (41-7). He will surely present Donaire with a thought task on October 13. Donaire on the hand is ranked amongst most as one of the top five pound for pound fighters in the world and therefore certain expectation have to be meet every time he steps in the ring.
Nishioka might be the hardest opponent Donaire has faced in quite some time, his work is cut out for him and he is aware of this. For Nishioka, this is the biggest fight of his career, a fight in which he will have to be more than good to win, he will have to be great.
Whoever comes out victories on October 13 will automatically become the number one target for several top fighters in and near the bantamweight division. Mexican-American Abner Mares, Panamanian Anselmo Moreno and Cuban Guillermo Rigondeaux will all be waiting in line anxious to face the winner. Not an easily list look forward to.
Also fighting on that card will be Brandon Rios (30-0), who he faces off again Mike Alvarado(33-0) in a fight I suspect might steal the show. They are both undefeated and they both like to brawl. Look for both guys to lay it all on the line in their ultimate quest victory that night.
This is a great overall card with both main fights capable of going either way. If you can't make your way over to the Home Depot Center, where there is not a bad seat in the house, then make sure to tune in to HBO because you won't want to miss either fight.
